    Please confirm max RPM

    2000 125 Mercury

From what I read the max RPM range is 4750-5250. Am I correct?

Your original post is correct. You want to prop so that your WOT RPM is at least 4750 with a maximum of 5250. That motor has a hard limiter on it. You will feel the boat surging if you are hitting the limiter. I do not recall if there is an audible alarm associated with it.

I have felt it hit the rev limiter before. What exactly does that term mean that the engine has a hard rev limiter?

Some are computer controlled and will have a range where the motor’s RPM will be limited based on a lot of factors. Your motor has no computer so there is no range.
