I didn't know old growth forests were used for that purpose, except for maybe the scrap wood. I thought stick pulp wood was grown specifically for the purpose of creating paper products? Isn't old growth used for lumber and such?

Maybe the shortage could be a attributed to that

I thought Safeway went out of business decades ago?
No they're still around here in Washington State. They're all over the place. They're the same as Albertson's here as well. That happened maybe 3 years ago??

Pulp wood is the first thinning of planted pines here. It's used for paper products. Pulp wasn't bringing $25/ton off our hunting lease, so they need the surge right now to bring in some profits.

Zero. These companies plan to more trees than they cut down. They don’t use old growth Forrest’s for this.

We’d better help for a nationwide boom in warm weather soon, because a lot of people are probably having trouble navigating through their houses and will need to start sleeping outdoors, what with all the stuff they’ve packed into their houses. Going on 3 weeks now since I’ve seen a single package of tp in any of the 4 groceries within 2 miles of our house. Someone should start an over/under pool on this. Can we go 2 months with a total wipeout of every paper product in every store, every day? Unrolled, that much tp would reach to the moon and back, several times.

Supplies are not the problem. The non existent fake demand is a the problem.

I would agree with you, except for the nonexistent part. Unfortunately that's already been established.

Going forward hopefully stores will put limits on how much one person can purchase at a time.

We were at our local Costco Sat. and they had pallets of tp and almost everything else you could want. There was no crowds or people panic buying anymore. The Costco where my son lives 20 miles away was still out of quite a few things and people were lined up to get in. The local grocery store was in pretty good shape also but very busy.

Our local small town Foodland is open every morning from 7-8 for seniors and they usually have a small supply of TP on the shelves.

I was in there this morning right at 7:00 AM and there were maybe a dozen packs of 24 rolls but we're OK at home so I didn't take what I didn't need and hopefully there was enough for those who do need it.

Talked with a gal who manages the local dollar general, they've been putting packs of toilet paper all over the store clothing section, hardware section ect...to help the people who regularly shop there have a chance to get some toilet paper by doing their usual shopping instead of just the people who show up that don't usually shop there and b line for the tp and leave, maybe there's no shortage? But the toilet paper is actually stashed all over the stores, like a big Easter egg hunt...

Here, TP is still nowhere to be found, unless you are lucky.

2x now, I have been in walmart, gone by the TP aisle.......bare....then 15 min later, I see someone walking around with a 4 pack....turns out they brought out a pallet full, and it was gone in less than 3 minutes...and I wasn't there waiting for it.

And another thing that has me pissed.....the only paper towels they have now are single packs, and the roll is 1/2 as big as usual....and they limit you to 1 per person. Well, I would go thru 2 of those tiny rolls a week around the house...so now I have to go to the store almost every day, vice 1 time a week, to get enough....how is that helping ??

and they are charging $1 buck each....but the big fancy huge roll bargain pack I usually get is only 0.60 per roll....someone is making money
