Are the alberto knot and crazy alberto knot the same thing?

Actually Alberto had nothing to do with the Knot. It’s an improved Albright knot. A pile of folks have put their name on this knot for some reason. It’s also known as the RP knot and the John Collins knot among others. So call it what you want and everyone will know what your talking about.

That’s basically a GT knot. GT knot just uses one more turn on the leader line to make a figure eight. I just switched up to that knot from the Albright. The GT knot is smaller and I believe stronger. I snagged up the other day. 12 lb floro to 30lb braid. Double San Diego jam knot to my jig. It took some time but I finally was able to break the floro. Both knots held perfectly.

Try the Lefty Krey knot, easy and super small and also very durable. I gave up the Alberto for the Lefty Krey. Much smaller IMHO.

I've been using the Lefty Kreh knot for the past few years with no issues tying braid to flouro.

That knot is used to tie fly line to leader. It’s decent in that application! But loop to loop is how most leaders are attached and is much stronger. In Braid to leader application it’s not very strong. Having said that if works for you then all is well.

This. Gotta be careful with any of the fly fishing knots for joining leaders as they're not joining mono or fluoro to braid. For example, the J-knot is an easy, strong knot when joining mono to mono or mono to fluoro as in a fly fishing application, but it's a weak knot when used to join braid.
