Seems completely unneeded as well right now. Be smart and hopefully your lakes stay open, be stupid and they close.

Safer doesn't make it safe or necessary. Walmart has supplies that people need and yes some people could stay home but closing essential business that provide goods would be a disaster. The idea that anyone is still defending fishing tournaments is mind boggling.

Huge difference! People need to go to WalMart for essential items like FOOD, no one needs to have or participate in a bass tournament.

Is it essential to buy 100 rolls of toilet paper too?

Of course not, but we're talking about essential things like FOOD and one of the main reasons that WalMart needs to stay open!

Amen, brother. I bet we could flatten that curve significantly if half the population didn’t make it impossible for the other half of the population to get paper products. The only households not having to visit half a dozen [average] stores to get Kleenex, TP, paper towels, or napkins are a) those who bought enough in one trip to last the rest of 2020, or b) those who haven’t even tried to buy any of these products. Al is of course correct: there are *needs* at the stores. But come on, folks! Don’t make it so hard on everyone else.

No but you compared people going to Walmart to a 70 boat tournament as if to say just because one was happening that the other was ok. It's not an equivalent comparison.

Here at the lake the local volunteer fire dept is still going forward with their bass fishing tournament this Saturday... I think they're under a lot of pressure to shut it down but it's their largest fund raiser of the year... Gonna be interesting... Dan

Can they maintain social distancing? Seems easy enough to do at weigh-in, would be hard in a team format though.

They can at the weigh-in scale but that's about it... The ramp will be packed with fisherman and the weekend warriors with there rug rats scrambling every which way... If you put a 100 trucks, trailers and boats in a parking lot it's next to impossible to "practice social distancing... Especially when half the guys know each other... I guarantee you you there will be clusters of guys, 3, 4, 5, 6 or more standing around shooting the bull during and after the weigh-in... This is the local fire dept that has EMT's, they should know better... And just up the lake the there was a benefit tournament for a young child that was to take place... They canceled... Fire dept and police dept's should know better and cancel... Set an example as they say... Dan

Now if some news station happens to shoot some video of these Fishermen then it makes an evening broadcast as an example of ignoring Social Distancing and not trying to stop the spread of the Virus raising the ire of the cooperating tax paying public.

Then all those Tournament Dudes with their Sponsor's names plastered all over their trucks, boats and prominently displayed on their Colorful Commercial Catching Bass for Cash Clothing will be seen on the video could receive severe backlash from their sponsors and have to start fishing on their own nickel wrecking their Professional Fishing Careers.

What if there is a dispute over a spot and the offended Spot Owner doesn't have a 3 oz Jig or a 12 inch Zara Spook rigged up so he has to follow BBC Protocol by Whupping the Spot Stealer's Azz and violates Social Distancing?

The NBA, MLB, NHL, NFL and NCAA Sports, MLF/BPT/FLW/B.A.S.S. are all shut down you'd think this group of High Profile Professional Athletes would follow the example of their fellow Pros.

Why? This kind of event is what gets all the ramps closed. To some people tournament fishing is like crack, just go regular fishing!
