With all the prop threads going...

Has anyone run the Mercury Pro Max prop???... Had it recommended to me by a respected prop guy... Just wondering... Dan

PRO FINISHPRO MAX®Designed for high-speed bass, flats cats, and tunnel boats capable of speeds more than 80 mph, the Pro Max offers improved hole shot and top-end speeds compared with the Pro E.T. The robust blades provide support in even the most demanding engine heights. Typically, it will be 2-3 mph faster on top-end compared to the Bravo I XS. The next evolution of the Pro E.T., the Pro Max, is the propeller of choice for lightweight, high-speed applications. The smaller barrel funnels exhaust for enhanced planing performance and holding in high-speed turns. It also minimizes drag at wide-open throttle, while adding …

I ran them when they first came out... I still own a 28P. Surging holeshot, good handling and good top end... Best accelerating prop I have run out of 240+ I have tested in 17 years.

Dan, I am on the lookout for a 27 now. I am far from Mike, but have tried over a dozen this past year on my 21/250. I tried a friends promax that he bought used many years ago. At the time I went with a Bravo XS. The promax didn't have as good a hole shot and was slower on top end by 2-3mph. But its mid-range 40-70 was head and shoulders better than anything I have run. I have recently changed Bravos and have a great hole shot and my fastest WOT yet, but I am still not happy with my cruising lift and fuel burn so that is why I am looking for a promax. 75%+ of my trips the conditions barely let me run mid 70's much less WOT so I think I would forego that top end speed for better mid range especially if it gives me much much better fuel burn numbers in the 55-70mp range.

I think the 25 Rev4 might be worth a try for you. I just had Mark pitch one to 26 and add a second set of pvs holes. It’s nice. It hits the limiter a 78. Drives like a dream. Guys with 1.62 gears may really like it.

Be aware that a 27P is cast as a 28P originally... I also had Mark add a custom flare to the barrel. It didn't help much. I also had him make me a custom cav ring for it. Didn't help much. Both items were to try and stop the surging holeshot. I have owned several 27's, 28's and a 30.

    1-is that 28 for sale?

I ran that prop on a 21 xrd with 250 pro xs at 1/2" below the pad. Great prop and you had to feather the hole shot. It ran loaded 82-83 with 2 people. The 28 hydromotive xob ran 1 mph faster. It was a 28 pitch.

It's not for sale... It's been sold a long time ago. You can see the casting numbers as a 28P, But re-stamped as a 27 right from Mercury.... I still own a 28P that I'm keeping.

To be clear... If you buy a 27P.... It comes like the pic above... Cast originally as a 28P... Unlike a Bravo1 27P is cast as a 26P and tuned up... Sorta... With tall cup.

Mike you think that prop would run better than a 27 razor on top end ?

    I didn't like it either...

I sure wish Mercury would offer the Rev4 in 27-30P... I'm not the only one wanting them. I have seen many over the years asking. Basically a 4 blade Tempest Plus @ 14 5/8 diameter. It needs dual PVS holes.
