Removing front cup holder

I'm planning to remove the front cup holder and install a flat plate to place my
AS GPS HS puck in that location. My questions are anyone remove the cup holder
before and how is it installed ? (I'm assuming glued in)
Also has anybody else done this in the past or have a better place to mount it.
looking for ideas.

I’ve seen the puck actually installed inside the cup holder. Maybe that could be an option without having to remove at all.

This is what I ended up doing. I removed the cup holder then
took two pieces of aluminum and sandwiched between the shroud and installed the puck.
It was easier than I though it would be.
