    Finding my serial number

Bought a rebuilt motor for a boat I'm restoring. Tag is gone and need to find serial number for insurance. I've found the following numbers

D097172 - stamped on silver plug, top rear of block

969-9073-03 stamped on block sort of behind starter

    18448C3 on each head

Was told the motor is a 92 XR 6 150. Are any of these the right number?

Look for a freeze plug that has a giant M (or W if it is upside down). It should have a serial number on it. There are cases where the block was replaced but having both the freeze plug and tag replaced would make me skeptical.

Look at it closer. It should be a number then a letter then all numbers after that.

That's all there is. I searched parts on a website with it and it came up 92 XR 6.

Well then I guess it was correct. Maybe there was a different serial number scheme back then. Glad you got it figured out!

I just did speak with someone from European Marine and they indicated that there should be a "0" at the front. Must not have been stamped correctly.
