    So, here are the numbers...

You can see my set up on my signature. The boat has a 14 3/4 x 20 Viper prop.
The hole shot is insane, not sure if I've been in many boats better. I turned 5200-5300 RPMs at WOT and full trim, 52 mph.
The manual says max RPM is 5400-6000 and max HP is generated at 5500.
If I lower my pitch I will turn more RPMs but would lose speed. If I increase size I will turn less RPMs right?
Do I need to or Should I be turning more RPMs? Or is this set up fine if I'm happy with it?
There is a good deal on a 21p prop for sale in the prop section but worry I would turn even less and lose speed?

If you cant turn it to the limit now you don't want to go up pitch, you would be lugging the motor. What is your PTP?

Optimal rpm range is 5500-5750. Drop an inch in pitch and you should be there. 5300 is borderline lugging the motor and isn't healthy. Worst case is you may loose 1 mph but in the long run your motor will appreciate you for it.

2 inchs too low to start with... Adjust from there. Keep safe water pressure.

come up 2 inches as mark said and lets see some numbers. you will most likely come up in Rpm and then can go up in pitch and still keep the great holeshot now that your higher and see better speeds due to the correct rpm with a higher pitched prop 5.5 below doesnt run good on any boat

If you have a jack plate start raising it up.

I just raised the motor up 1.5", so I am at 4" PTP now. I will be testing it out tomorrow. What changes can I expect?
