    Help with buying 126sv

    Hello all,

    What is your opinion?

I want the 126sv at the helm with the GT54UHD transducer. Is that good?
I also want a 10 or 12 inch (your opinion) on the helm with Livescope.

These will be the only two units on the boat.

Do I need U.S. BlueChart g3 and U.S. LakeVü g3 on both units?
Will I be able to use my Minn Kota Ultrex transducer with the front unit (I know, I wont have SideVu)?

Will I need to run network wires to connect them or can they work wireless?

Is it overkill to have a second 126sv on the front or would another unit work just as well?

    Thanks in advance!

    Sion

I just got a 126sv installed at my console and 2 106sv installed at the bow.

I love the 126 at the console, it's plenty big.

I love having the two 10" units at the front.

All of mine are ethernet connected and can share ducer/waypoint information.

I haven't upgraded to the LakeVu Ultra yet...

I'm somewhat pleased with the G3 maps that are on the units. I fish Toledo and Rayburn a lot and much of the lake is mapped with the 1' contours but some of it isn't nearly as detail.

I think the Ultra maps will be worth the $$$

You say you want a 2 units at the "helm". Do you mean one there and other at bow/TM?? Not sure what type of boat

Assuming its one unit at each place, here is my opinion:

Great choices. The GT54 is an all in one ducer. If you want it to read while on plane, then it needs to be mounted at the pad. If you are not wanting to do that then look at the GT8/GT30 ducer combo. GT8 is a 2d shoot thru ducer and GT30 is just a image ducer (side vu / clear vu). Nothing wrong with having another unit for LiveScope.....size would be your call but i always say, get biggest screen you can afford.

BlueChart and US Lake Vu comes standard on the 106 and 126. If you dont want those built in mapps then go with the 102 or 122 that has a world wide base map. At that point you can get the Lake Vu or Lake Vu Ultra card and share it between units. Both cards are the same with the exception that the Ultra has a few more features than the regular Lake Vu. See chart in link: https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/c452...ml..........OR you can get on with world wide base map and one with Lake Vu mapping (built in) and it will share to the other unit with the world base map.

You can use the MK ducer but i'd ask why. The GT54 with the 10/12" unit would be great.

They do not work wireless, you would need to connect them with the Garmin marine network cable.

I dont think its overkill to have a second 12" especially if you plan on having LiveScope. You could easily make split screens with a 12".
YOU are not entitled to what I have earned!!!!!
