    Tach maintenance

2008 Z20, my tach (tach/water pressure systems check combo) is acting up. I'm told there is a potentiometer on the back of the unit, but how the hell do you get to it? Do you have to remove the entire dash or is there an easier way I'm not seeing? Just looking at it I thought I could remove the screws around the guage assembly and remove it that way...No! Any help or suggestions appreciated. Pics would be a plus.
    Thanx,
    Don

Not a easy answer....some dash's you can reach behind ...I had to take the tach out.. Two 5/16 nuts hold the u bracket ( I think 5/16) then it will come out . Find someone with very small hands.

On my 06 Z20 I can reach the back of the tach easily from underneath. Lie on your back and shimmy under the console. Bring a mirror with you, that might help you see the pot.

What I have learned is SHIMMY is not to easy when you are almost 70 years old,I did take a picture of the back of the tach with my phone and I see terminals and light bulb inserts but no adjustment of any kind

I hear ya on the shimmy as I am close to your age. If you can post that picture here that would help or send me a pm and we can swap emails and pictures that way.

Your tach is different than mine which is a 2006 so I do not know what to say other than sorry I led you down the wrong path. Not sure what to say. I hope you figure it out. Let us know if you do.
