    SPRING WEIGHT

I have a tandem axle trailer under my 2018 Triton TRX18. It has 3 leaf springs, 25 1/4 eye to eye. My question is what lb rate would they be? Trailer plate says 4900 GW.
I’m guessing 1750lb per spring, making 3500lb per axle, does this sound about right?

    I'd guess 1250lb per = 5000lb GVWR.

But I think 3 leaf minimum is about 1500 per spring. When I replaced the springs on my dual axle, 5440 GVWR, I used 1500lb 3 leaf springs.

If you use springs that are to heavy for the load, you will not get any flex or spring from the springs. That will create a very hard, stiff, jarring ride for the load.

Don't depend on number of leafs for strength Some springs that have 4 leafs are rated less than some 3 leaf springs. What matters is thickness of the steel per each leaf.

If your gross weight is 4900, I'd assume an axle rating of 5000lb,divide that by 2 amd you have your leaf spring rating.

Be glad my ez load trailer gross weight is 3650 lol so I need leaf springs rated for 1850#
