I know you get it from the website but what is the difference between downloading direct from website to SD card or AC downloading it to your SD card in your phone?????
I'm not a computer guru but everyone is saying the same file is better direct from the website......just trying to understand why......

Apparently there is possible packet loss when transferring via active captain due to the size of the updates. I'd honestly recommend only using SD cards for updates and not wifi.

I purchased 2 Plus units last fall. The 73 and 93sv's. I have not updated anything and don't have live scope or pan optics. Would it benefit me to update or should I be GTG?

Packets are little packs of information in a data transmission. Like train cars as part of a whole train. Hypothetically you could send an email and packets of that email could take different routes to the destination where they are reassembled and become the final product. It's not likely a packet is being lost. This is standard protocol that's been used for EVA.
I can never find the download page the link above only gives the history of what the file fixes. I do not have a button on that page to download it.

I've got a stupid question. I just got all my units installed this past weekend (126sv and two 106sv). I have not checked to see which version of the software that I'm currently running. Is the issue with the "ghost tree" with the GLS10 software or the actual unit software? Can I update the units and not the black box and vice versa?
After reading above I will def be using the SD card method no matter what I do...
Since this update just applies to the GLS10 I would think that it only needs to be done on one heat unit on the network. Is this right? BTW thank you DMV631 for the link. Don

I'm new to Garmin, I could not get the update to work using a sc card I downloaded the update and tried to unzip and save it to my PC but it would only save it to a sd card when I put the card in, did not see a update.
so I used active captain on my phone on top it had ECHOMAP Ultra 126 and it said no updates below that was live scope, I touched that and it said updates, and it updated the live scope black box. looking at the software it shows the ultra the same and the livescope is updated GLS10 version 2.33. it is snowing here so next week will see what I have.
I did the update on my new 93sv plus bought 03-12-20. I can't tell much difference. That said, I would describe my image as usable but far inferior to all the demos I've seen. The cover is never as clear nor are the fish but I can tell what's what, it just takes a little interpretation. I was hoping I would get the WOW factor with the update but did not.
