Visited Death Valley and survived..... pics to prove it..

    DSCN0886.JPG Very Desolate......

pupfish3.JPG These are pupfish. Endangered species that can be seen only in the spring in death valley. They were in salt creek.
Pupfish1.JPG They are about the size of a small minnow. 2" or so.

DSCN0879.JPG Old borax mine. Hence the name 20 team mule borax. They trekked about 165 miles to mine this stuff. Brutal.
    DSCN0880.JPG
DSCN0902.JPG Wife was mad because I was taking too many pics of the pupfish. I was trying to get the best pics. This is the salt creek that they live in. They built a boardwalk so you could enjoy seeing them without destroying the habitat.

DSCN0951.JPG 1 of the places is 292ft below sea level. Says that its so hot there because the mountains hold in the heat and its so far below sea level that the moisture just evaporates so quickly and nothing can survive.

Definitely an interesting place. Except in the summertime Even then I guess it's still interesting because it's so dam hot.

Was there many years ago. Friend work for park service and took me to see tons of artifacts they don't have out for display. Lots of native American artifacts. They had a bunch of really nice desert bighorn sheep skulls also. Death Valley is lowest part of continental US and then go west about 75 miles to Mt Whitney which is the highest point.

These are some of the most interesting pictures anyone has ever posted here. Thanks! Those pup fish look like they would make EXCELLENT smallmouth bait.

it is absolutely huge - we drove on the floor of the valley for 50 some miles and I think it was less than 1/3
