There's some good uns in the state too. I'd say roughly 75% of all tournaments across the state take 17+lbs to win or even get a check. It seems about every other year someone brings in a 9lbr to the scales from different lakes in the state

Most of the lakes are under 300 acres (800 acre lakes are considered big here) and man made. DNR makes a lot of structure that holds fish year round. Then you've got Spirit Lake and Okoboji up north (Pure Fishing headquarters) and the Mississippi on the east side of the state. Missouri River in the northwest portion of the state is pretty good too when it's not flooded.

Iowa is definitely a pleasant surprise when it comes to bass fishing. Especially these little lakes. They take a pounding each and every weekend and still produce numbers and quality. Blows my mind.
