I have my boat scheduled to go through the Ranger finish shop.
I am having the top cap redone.
Has anyone done this? If so, what were the pros and cons?
Thanks in advance for any information.

Pro: looks amazing when finished
Con: fairly long wait, and not inexpensive

I have had it scheduled for a long time. They are doing from the rub rail up. I didn't know if they would have to remove carpet, trim, trolling motor, etc.
I personally think it will be worth it. I just repowered so this boat should be around awhile.
Do you mind posting the cost of this? I really would like to have this done to mine. Just repowered as well. Thanks. Jason
Takes a little time, but worth the wait.
What does it mean to have the top cap redone? Thanks.

They have not gave me a final price but said around $3k
I will be interested to know how it comes out. I have heard they always go above and beyond! Please post pics when it is completed.
You mentioned you have had it scheduled for a long time. How does that work? Will they call when they are ready to start on it? Or do you drop it off and it sits for weeks till they are ready for it? I would love for the factory to do
some work on mine but I've heard bad stories about boats sitting around forever outside waiting to be stared on
I have been calling and speaking with the refinish shop for about 8 months. They thought the would be ready March or April. Unfortunately, I talked them this week and it looks like June due to what's going on in the world.
Vaseline... Looks great for each trip........
Actually for the amount of work that goes into it, it's not a bad investment.
I agree. We all know that 15 or 20-year-old Rangers in good to excellent condition are worth $3k more than tired and rough-looking ones. Given that there are very few “investments” on boats that return 100% value, getting a refurbish makes sense to me if the boat needs it.

I had a top cap replaced under warranty. Ranger service does great work. Boat looked like new when they were done.
