Will DNR close lakes for COVID19?

Warmer weather gets me thinking about my plans this spring and summer. How will our public lake access be impacted by the virus situation? Any thoughts?

will the DNR shut it all down to minimize mechanisms for socialization? That would be too bad as families need an outlet for activities as well. Also I need to fish otherwise I might do harm to my family! Lol.

Highly doubtful. All the state parks are currently open.

I hope not but does sound like something MN will do, SD supposedly pulled all fees for using state parks haha the exact opposite

I will go even if they do and deal with the consequences.

MN DNR doesn't have enough people to enforce something like that.

Doesn't look like lakes should be closing. I know the Governor during his discussions yesterday said that the outdoors is a good place to go as long as you can keep your 6' social distancing. Fishing I can definitely do that!

I don't think MN will run into issues. I think the social distancing and testing getting online came just in time for this state. Cheeseheads and Michiganders might be screwed though. I don't know that their health care systems are as robust as MN. MI has gone past the cluster stage ino Boom territory in the southern part of the state. I think the same has happened in the Milwaukee area It goes like this:
    Case
    Case, case
    Case, case, case
    Cluster
    Cluster
    Cluster, Cluster
    Boom!
The health care workers in states where it gets to the Boom stage are in for one hell of a long and punishing fight.

However, I do think it will mess up a lot of plans for fishing Opener. No way things are totally under control and back to normal by then.

I think the great majority of accesses will stay open as long as people are smart and don't congregate on accesses and lakes. AKA if parties start breaking out on Big Island on Lake Minnetonka, they will shut things off

i agree. Good chance idiots will still tie up forcing enforcement. Just hope it doesn’t impact the rest of us if that happens. Easy fix I guess is to have a no tie up regulation.
