    200hp Merc on a 2100?

Has anyone ran this combo on a 2100 or even a 209? Curious about topend and overall performance. I have a 250pro xb and thinking of swapping.

Thx, reason I ask is I can buy back a 200 I used to own that only has 75hrs on a complete build so was considering it as a short term 1-2yr option until I found a good 250xs instead of running the 250pro xb until then

Originally my 209 had a 200 carb Evinrude the hole shot was worse than me trying to get out of bed in the morning. It can be done but I don't think you'd be satisfied. Nnow that I have a 250 I'd never do back to anything less I can run 70 (which is fast enough for me) at 5000 rpm

I have tabs and a hydro plate so holeshot should be ok. I was thinking of this for 2 reasons 1/ the 200 is a low hr good running motor and 2/ much better on gas. The idea would be to just run it until I find a nice used 250xs if I did the swap.

    Is this a 3.0 liter 200 or a 2.5 liter 200?

That would be like having a Sports car and taking out the V8 to instal a 4cyl for gas efficiency....

Ya no doubt a step down in performance, I was just pondering about it and weighing the pro's and cons

does it happen to have a 2.5 torque master l/u? If so you may be pleasantly surprised at the performance you get.

It has a cle which I expect would hurt topend a little. Its an ff block with a 200pm ecu stock aside from Chris Carson reeds and a mild cut on the heads.

Yeah... the CLE will most likely wack you alot. Unless you can get it to run where it's designed to be run. What jack plate do you have? The 2.5 torque master is what's needed in this application but - they're just about impossible to find!

I have a hydro plate, I think if I could still get bow lift running say 1" below pad or higher it shouldnt hurt more then 1-3mph but thats just a guess. Different hull of coarse but I saw no more then 1mph difference between 3/4" below and 1/4" above when running this motor on a Allison xb2003

How much set-back? You may actually be in pretty good shape as long is the Gambler can run at those heights and the 2.5 has enough umhhhh... Play with props enough and you may just have a winning combination!!! Be interesting to see what you end up with!

    I run my 209 @ ~1.75" below and it does fine. That's with 225 ProXS w/Gen1 TM.

Back in the day... I had a 209 TE w/'97 225 ProMax. Before the 2000SB(service bulletin) which remapped the fuel curve I could hit 80-81 on good days and 78-79 on a regular basis. That was with 26p Trophy - slung a lotta blades back then too!

    Good Luck!!!
