Need super slippery boat bunks for 188

Now I have the Drotto on my boat trailer loading is much easier. If I spray the bunks with silicone it slides on and centers easily at the correct depth. The issue is the silicone only lasts a small amount of time and I have to put the trailer in to deep for easy centering.

I'm tired of spraying and want something more permanent. I honestly don't care if it's like ice when I'm done. Any suggestions?

I put these on my trailer and am very pleased. I have to keep the bow strap hooked up until I am ready to launch because they are so slippery.

E-Z slide trailer pads to screw on the bunks. They are like $39 on amazon. I use them and it slides real well.

I added two more bunks to solve the centering problem and thought I would need to add bunk slicks because of the additional contact area. However, as it turns out, it slides up the 4 bunks easier than it did on two. I assume It is because the weight is distributed across a larger surface.

My plan for bunk slicks was to purchase these cutting boards from Sams Club and cut them into 4 inch strips.

Bill, could you share some details/pics of your additional bunks?

As you see in the pic, the bunk material is exactly the same as those on the trailer.
This link to a previous post gives additional detail and provides a source for the brackets.

This was not a hard project. We just pushed the bunk up against the boat and tightened the U bolts to the trailer frame. We then cut off the extra Length of bracket below the frame. I had to make some special plates to fill in the interior width of the brackets. You will see these in the pictures and once you start to cut off the excess the reason for these plates will become clear.
Honestly, I wish I had done this 3 years ago.

I have heard that plastic gutter works great but have not done it.

I put this on my wife’s pontoon boat trailer and it works great. Not very attractive though.

Adding PVC Gutter DOWNSPOUTS (cut in half lengthwise) to 2x4 bunks. Note, if you have 2x6 or 2x8 bunks then PVC siding may be able to be adapted to this project. https://forum.tinboats.net/viewtopic...added&start=30

Thanks folks, I'll give these a thought.

FWIW the Drotto has been a great addon for my boat. Makes loading and unloading a breeze since I fish by myself most of the time.

Thank you Bill! I had thought of doing this on the Ranger as I had done it on my 16' Mod-V boat before.

I thought I was the only one that couldn't center my 188

I've got plastic on my bunks that my nephew uses on his race car. It's like every plastic I've ever tried on bunks, works great for the first few times, then doesn't seem to work at all

The Stolz bow roller helps and it is a nice affordable easy upgrade.

Thats a nice upgrade Bill and i agree with you. 4 bunks loads and slides much easier over the carpet alone. I found that on my old boat too. Yours looks good.
