1992 Mariner 2.5 Liter Magnum III "Alarm"

A friend of mine has a 1992 Mariner 150 Magnum III that at start up the alarm activates a steady horn like beep. It has plenty of oil and the engine smokes as it should. It's not overheating since it does it right off the trailer. It also did the same thing last year and after restarting the engine 3 or 4 times threw out the day while using the trolling motor, it finally quit and didn't do it again the rest of the season. This year it's doing the same thing but doesn't quit this time. The engine runs great and idles perfect at start up but the alarm wont shut off. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Tight Line to All...( Engine Serial # 0D166574 )

Solid tone. It does as soon as he starts the engine while its still on the trailer when off loading. There's no time for the engine to get hot, has full oil reservoir, engine exhaust smokes as it should, seems to run great other than the solid tone alarm. Thanks for any advise.

Thanks again JOE54. Will look for it today. Is there any way to test the Alarm Control Box? I was out in his boat yesterday and it sounds like to me that it is more of a really fast "non" stop beeps other than a solid tone. Its beeping fast enough to where it almost sounds like a solid tone. Thanks again, I really appreciate your time and information. I'll let you know what I find.

Thanks for all the information guys. Found the problem to be that the magnet washer on the oil float sensor separated from the float. Removed the float, cleaned and dried and re-glued the magnet to the float, Reinstalled and no alarm now. There's a good "YouTube video" on this repair. Thanks again and Tight Lines to all.
