    Triton TR-20x carpet advice

I'm looking to install new carpet on my 2004 Triton TR-20x bassmaster classic edition and i see there are pre-cut carpet kits for sale on the web. I can't find one for the TR-20x specifically but i do see kits for the TR-20 and TR-21x. Is the TR-20 the same as the 20x deck dimension wise? Or Should i get the 21x kit and cut it down to the 20x size? Trying to figure out best option here.

I would not buy a pre cut kit. I did mine and bought carpet from bassboatseats.com. Just make your own template from the pieces you take off.

i agree with bbq. dont buy pre cut, its a pain in the ass compared to using old carpet as a template. i did my 04 21x..that will be the last carpet job i ever do.

I forgot to mention that I used Weldwood contact cement when installing the new carpet. Go to the big box hardware stores and buy a bunch of the cheap chip brushes in different widths.

Here's a pic with the ranger carpet. I'm still waiting on the sea deck material for the floor. I called the company and they said they're close to getting it cut. My guess is another couple weeks and I'll have it. Can't wait to see what it looks like. I had them etch triton boats in it.

Here is my post for when I did the exact same boat. Unfortunately, the pics went away, but I still have them on my phone if you need any help with it. Just send me a text 603.731.5975 if you want any help. But I tried to give as much info as I could. Hope it helps some.

Thanks for all the replies and advice! I think i will not go with the precut kit. I think i will go ahead and replace seats while i'm doing all of this. Anyone have any luck with seats from bass boat seats.com?

How big a roll do you think i would need? And should i go with the 6 ft or 8 1/2 foot wide?

What size roll of carpet did you order and was it sufficient?

Get the 8 1/2 foot wide. It will give you some extra in case you have to replace some down the road.

+1 on this. Just make sure you mark everything before taking off the carpet so you know which direction the grain is going. I literally took permanent marker and put arrows facing to front of boat so I knew exactly which way to trace onto new carpet.

I was recommended to a guy who does carpet and upholstery on the side as well as outboard repair. He said he could do the carpet job for 1200.00. Should i hire it out to him or do the job myself and save that money to put towards replacing the seats. Be nice to save money but also nice not have to worry about it and let someone whos done it many many times do it.

It really depends on how handy you are. If your not handy and are worried about doing it yourself then imo $1200 is very fair. I don't ever want to do it again!
