    Tin Boat Mods

Stuck at the house. Thought I would ask what tin boat mods you have done. Maybe steal some ideas you guys had.

Did you not read my post? Put some perspective on it. I am sure not all mods on there. Just trying open it up to more conversation. But thanks anyway.

Added a Trick Step last year. Last month I replaced the Lowrance Ti 9" at the console with a Ti2 12". Added a Ti2 9" at the bow. Already had a Point 1 heading sensor. Added a 8ft Power Pole Sportsman II. When it is time to change out the batteries I am going to go with Lithium and a new charger.

I made a key modification to my older Hummingbird 898 on my console that had stopped reading the bottom depth. I was beginning to shop for a new depthfinder? DI only or DI/SI? How big? I like the Helix 9 I have up front. Then I pushed the power button when the unit was on to change the screen brightness and I as saw the magic command - "Sonar On/Off". Somehow I had turned the darned sonar "off". Oh well, that saved some money that might be needed in the apocalypse.

I'm in the process of replacing the factory rod breaker cleats with folding cleats. I've had them for a while, but now finally have the time to get them installed.

After that, I plan to clean up some wiring.

Might help to know which Tin Boat you have so people with that model could let you know if they did anything specific to it that would not apply to other brands / models.

I just ordered the Deck Step from Ranger for my RT188. If you order one with a new boat the sides will be the same as you aluminum boat. If you order it later (like me) it will be carpeted. when it comes in I'm going to take the carpet off and have it wrapped in white sheet metal.

Have a good one and thank God for it!

Not really a mod, just upgrades. I've got an Excel vf4 1754. I know most on here use their boats for bass fishing, well, mine gets used for fishing, duck hunting and pulling a tube. I'm in the process of going from a 55 lb Maxxum (12 volt) to a 65 lb Maxxum (24 volt) plus I'm adding a Minn Kota Precision 3 bank (10 amp) charger. Me and my oldest went out fishing the other day, motored to our spot, fished a little (it was more of a make sure everything worked trip with very high and muddy water), went to head back home and the motor wouldn't start. Took us almost 2 hours to get back and the trolling motor battery was pretty much dead when we got back (had to push pole and paddle against the wind). My thought was that if we had motor trouble while duck hunting on the river fighting the current then we'd be screwed so I'm upgrading...when I bought the boat I thought about the 24 volt at the time but thought it was overkill...wrong.
