I have seen a few chime in on other threads regarding lakes that aren't state run/owned so I figured I'd start this so we could make a list of places in Illinois to run to so that we can actually practice this "social distancing."

Lake Michigan
Around here (Champaign area) the following should remain open:
Sara
Decatur
East Fork
Springfield
Mattoon
Jacksonville
Shelbyville (Unless the Corps decides to close their lakes as well)
All the rivers
Vermillion
I'm sure that there are a bunch that I'm missing and then all of the Lakes South of I-70 as well.
Anyone have much luck on Jacksonville? Always wanted to try that place.

Philly, you truly think Springfield would be open, huh? Was curious about rivers up here too...

Jacksonville > Springfield?
Does anyone know if Lake of Egypt is still open? We had been planning on coming down from Wisconsin to fish this Friday and Saturday and we would still like to make the trip if the lake is still open for use. It appears that the launch is private?
thank you

The dilemma is that these launches could close at any time pending our ever changing circumstances. I'm weighing the risk of making the drive mid-week next week versus the possibility of having to turn around and drive another 5hrs home.

There are 3 private ramps on Lake of Egypt:
Egyptian Hills Marina (618) 364-8088,
Mac's Marina (618) 964-1821 and
Pyramid Acres (618) 964-1184.
There is also a public ramp located on the far southeast side of the lake past Egyptian Hills. Ramp is located at 37°35'4.12"N 88°52'23.50"W. I've never launched at this ramp; so other than gps location, I can't be of much help regarding it.

I'm not sure about Desplaines or Kankakee?
Fox chain of lakes is open - but not the public state run access ramps.
They've been running the power plant very sparingly. We had a tournament here last Sunday. Water temps were running from 48-52. Catch was low. It's been raining most of this week and is suppose to continue through the weekend. I haven't heard of the lake being closed. I saw a few boats fishing here today. Temp was 54 and low wind. You would probably do better if you waited a couple weeks. Just saying.
Good luck if you come down.
