    625 with Merc 250 4s Setups?

    Hello all,

I am a new blazer owner, just got a 2019 625 PE with a 2019 Merc 250 4 stroke, it has dual poles and a 36v trolling motor. Currently with a full load I’m seeing 75 with two guys and 76 ish solo running a 26 fury 4 blade at 2.5” below pad at 6000 rpms. What are most boats setup like mine running as far as props and speed goes?

Thanks in advance! Love the boat!!

    Hey DTS,

I am local and just picked up my 19 Blazer a few months ago.
    I'm running a 250 G2.

As far as numbers - mine has been 77.3 LOADED with two guys with a 26p four blade. Gotta look at see what it came with.
however after speaking with a few guys, i have been told to run a 28p Bravo I XS. good for another 2 mph and run great.

I believe my boat has 78-79 Loaded with two guys and gear. I ran it solo at 78.6 during the first few hours.

    See you around. Phil

Phil....How would you compare the 21xd to the 625? I am familiar with the 21xd and 21xdc. Spent alot of time in both. Just wondering your thoughts. Thanks!

Hey Curious what is the hole shot like and does that big front deck sit nice and stable while fishing?

Coming from a gambler the blazer 625 front deck is shorter but much wider and feels much more comfortable. Rides better and handles corners about the same. I’d assume the blazer is a little slower than the bullet but also a little more comfortable to fish from.

I think I can get it to run 78-79 loaded with the right prop. What should I try next? Thinking a 27 tempest?

I was out Friday and Sunday. So maybe another Blazer? I know there’s not many on the river up here, at least not the 625’s.

DTS, I have the same setup as you and I also came out of a Gambler. I am running a 27 Tempest and have seen 78.9 solo. I think 80 will not be hard at all. I am planning to try a bigger Bravo soon too.

Thanks for the info! I’ve heard the 27 and 28 bravos are what produce the best speeds. But I’d like to try a 27 tempest to see what it will do. The boat came with a 26 Bravo 1 that had been B&B’ed, but would only run 74.5 solo at 6050 rpms which was disappointing.

Is the Bravo 1 or Bravo xs preferred?

I picked up a 28 bravo that has been worked down to a 27. Got it to run 78 at 6000 rpms, 3” below pad, solo with a full fishing load, and same load with 2 people running 76. I’ve got a 27 tempest coming to try that. I think it’s still got more in it. Motor now has about 65 hours on it.

I just ran a 29 Bravo I XS yesterday and it ran 78.5 loaded, 2 people, full of fuel and half full live wells and it was fast on holehsot. But I could only turn it 5800. In a short run I hit 79.1 solo. I am now looking for a 28 Bravo I XS...

Has anyone tried a 14" jackplate to see if it's faster without scrubbing too much holeshot?

    I'm going to say no....lol.

To expound further Chad, the 625 transom is based off of the 210, so you are already have more setback to begin with. You might remember better than me but I don't believe the 210s saw much better performance when going with more than 10in of jackplate.

I am curious if anyone thinks going from 10" to 12" would be a benefit on top end???

The 210 didn't benefit from it because the boat was more stern heavy so if you went back to 14" you would drag the rear from too much weight being too far back. I think with the 625, even with Poles, if you went all lithium, you could run 14", not drag the stern and pick up a few mph. Of course this is just all theory but the 625 does look to handle stern weight very well.

The 625 is better balanced bow to stern but I'm not sure it would be enough to make it perform better with 14in of setback. Maybe with a 300X....

I went all lithium in mine, maybe I will try 2" spacers at some point in the future just to see if it helps...
