    Latch question

I have a 2019 z18. I would like to replace th the cam latches on the main center storage with slam latches. Is this done fairly easily with little to no modification?

I don't like the factory latches either. My solution was to simply not latch them. I leave them in the open position at all times so opening and closing is as easy as possible. I've never had a lid open unexpectedly, even in rough water.

Do you leave all of them in this position, or just center storage?

I leave all mine unlatched (2019 Z19) when I'm fishing. I've never had one come open and I've been in some ROUGH water (Mille Lacs, LOZ)

All my fishing career I almost always leave all lockers latches in the open position. Never had an issue.

How do to guys avoid stepping on the latches when in the open position? The reason I lock mine is so I have a flush deck.

If you turn them 180 they will fit flush in the deck.

Open the latch so it is up in the air, twist it around 180 degrees then lay it down flat again. It will look like it is locked but the lid can now be opened and closed freely and wont be a trip hazzard.

Instead of saying open position you could say unlocked position, then left the latch and compartment will open, the lids are usually a pretty tight fit so they don't fly open.
