Is this still on? With the directive to not gather more than 10 due to COVID-19, not sure if anyone has checked with state officials to see how it applies to open tournaments that may have as many as 100 people gathered to fish.

John, this is an email from Dr. Joe Love.
I've heard about a sizable tnx happening out of Marshal Hall coming up. You can launch at several area ramps, boat to Marshall Hall and one bag at a time will be handed from the boat to the tnx staff. Participants stay on the boat and in the water away from each other. I think this method would work well and Dr. Love has approved this method from what I was told.
For small club events I think it would be easy to not gather close and hold a tnx. Easy pease as I've been thinking it through.

    Update: Bass Tournaments in Maryland
    Thu, Mar 26, 2020 12:11 pm

    Joseph W Love -DNR- (joseph.love@maryland.gov)To:you + 105 more Details

    Dear Tournament Director,

I just received an email from one of our directors, Steve Weimar, that Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC) has revoked bass tournament permits for tournaments in Delaware with more than 10 participants, until further notice.

The Maryland Department of Natural Resources has not yet revoked permits. However, I would strongly encourage directors to consider adopting virtual weigh-ins using social media platforms such as iAngler Tournament, Facebook or Twitter rather than hosting in-person weigh-ins. These type of tournaments can be held without resulting in public gatherings of more than 10 people. Some of our directors routinely use these platforms and I'm happy to connect anglers to those directors for more details. Please also remember that the department can support these efforts through the director's conservation award, with more information on that program on-line.

I know that virtual weigh-ins are non-traditional and are perhaps unworkable options for some clubs and organizations. Even so, your consideration of that style of competitive sportfishing would be greatly appreciated at this time when public health is at stake and it is unknown how much longer the threat will persist.

    Take care.

    Joe.

Chester County Bass Masters Upper Chesapeake Bay Open Series.

With all that is happening with the novel coronavirus, it is a very fluid situation with changing parameters in real life and in our tournament world.

Most states around us have already pulled tournament permits for April.

Launch ramps are closed or adding a lot of important and protective restrictions on how tournaments can be run.

While young, healthy people may not be at high risk with this virus, older members and immune compromised relatives are.

As conscientious adults, we have an obligation to protect the vulnerable members of our society.

At this point in time we cannot responsibly hold our Open on April 4th and have it up to our standards for running a fun, competitive, efficient, and safe tournament.

We are rescheduling the April 4th Open TX to SUNDAY, May 24th.

Hopefully things are back to a semi-normal state soon and we can launch the trail with our Open already scheduled for May 2nd.

(Mark your calendars for June 7 also, as we are registering that date since it is quite possible we will need to use it as well.)

Thank you for understanding why this decision was made and for all of your support of our tournaments.

We hope to see all of you on May 2nd for our CCBM Upper Bay Open.
