    Porterhouse

Local store had Porterhouse and T-bones on sale so i grabbed an 18oz Porterhouse. I've never cooked one before, so how would you cook it?

Depends on what youre cooking on but reverse sear if you can do it.

I love to pan sear but I do not have an outside stove vent. Gets a little smoky in the house...

    Love some Porterhouse.

Biggest deal with Porterhouse or TBone is they’re not all the same anatomically. Some have a very large filet on the side, on some the filet is almost nonexistent. I’ve dug through stacks before to find those with big filets.

As for cooking, I tend to do mine in a hot cast iron skillet. Haven’t done reverse sear yet, I’m wanting to try that.

Thanks for all the tips. I ended up just searing direct and basting it with homemade garlic herb butter. Flavor was great and I nailed the temp (129°), but dont think my little two burner has enough heat to get a really good sear. Gonna try the reverse sear on my next steaks to see what all the fuss is about.

Great deal on a beautiful Porterhouse, has a very nice filet on the side.

Wish we had Ingles down here around Charleston. We occasionally get a cabin in Asheville for long weekends or a week, always hit Ingles for groceries.
