Thumbs Up Ran new 250R on my 20XDC for the first time!!!

I ran my new 2020 250R on my 20XDC for the first time this past weekend. I am extremely impressed with this engine. I'm having it flashed to 325hp this week and then I'll start setting it up and finding the right prop.

When I bought the boat new in 2003 I had a 280 on it, then in 2012 I put a new 250 Sport. I really missed the mid range punch of the 280 when I went to the 250 Sport (but fuel was becoming an issue for the 280) is the reason for the change in 2012.

There is absolutely no comparison between the 250R and the 250 Sport. The "R" out performed the Sport every aspect (and not just by a little).
The 280 had an absolute insane mid-range punch, I would say the 250R is very simular (maybe even a little stronger punch), but the best thing is the 250R has that punch at low rpm's and holds that punch through-out the entire rpm range, as to where the 280 only had it when it was in the power- band.

So far I could not be happier with the 250R. The 325hp on the 20XDC should be an interesting animal.

Where can you get the 250R flashed to 325 hp?

Wondering what flash is available for a 250 Pro XS 200 V8?

Simon Motorsports does the flash. They recommend that you buy the harness and flash it yourself if the engine is still under warranty. The flash is very detectable on these engines and Mercury will not warrant it if it is flashed, so by buying the harness, you can flash it back to factory specs before taking it in.

The flash is the same for the ProXS as the R engines, but there is a catch with the 200/225. The 200 and 225 top out at 225 unless the throttle bodies are changed. Once the TB is changed, they can be flashed to 320 just like the 250's. They have the part numbers and sell the parts that you have to change out.

You should verify this before believing it because I am going based upon memory, but I think I have it correct. Their website appears to be down at the moment so I cann look it up.

Brad described it mostly as I understand. When I talked to Simon, I thought they indicated that all the v8's (200-300) can be flashed to 325hp. The ProXS two strokes will only see a 20-25hp gain, but I never ask why, so as Brad mentioned, maybe it's a TB constraint. I'm the same as Brad, I'm going by memory, I would check with Simon to be 100% sure.
