50AH or 100AH?? Looking to replace my trolling motor batteries with Lithium, but torn between 50AH or 100AH. I am power fisherman and the trolling motor is usually on 70 or higher. Will the 50AH last during a 9hr tournament day?

36v. Currently running 3 31 Blue tops. Not real happy with this set of Optima's.

A few years ago I bought a 24 volt 50 ah battleborn and have nothing but great things to say about. I can run my trolling motor pretty hard for 2 days before I need to charge it. Run it all day for practice and then a full tourney day with no issues. Lots of good threads on this topic, good luck with whichever brand you choose.
I went thru this same thing a year and a half ago. I talked with Roy at Wacky riggers (screen name is rbarrow he's a board sponsor) and eneded up going with the 50AH ReLion batteries. I was worried they wouldn't be enough but I haven't had any issues at all! I have a dual Pro 4 bank charger and was able to send it back and have it reprogrammed for the lithiums for around $125 if I remember correctly. I would send him a PM and talk to him. He will answer any questions you have and I thought he gave me a great deal on a set of batteries and they come with custom battery trays! Hope this helps

Money can't buy happiness but it can buy fishing baits and that's about the same thing
I have lots of customers running 3 12v50ah Ionics fishing 9 to 10 hour tournaments, for most people the 50ah is more than sufficient, we do have customers running 100ah also but most of them fish strong river current, heavy grass, or spotlock on big lakes all day and for others its usually overkill. im sure there are many running 50ah on 36v that can chime in with there comments.

My dad was running a single 36v 40 ah and managed to kill it fishing moderately heavy current below a dam on a mid-size river during a tourney day after about 4 hours. He was leaning on the trolling motor pretty constant during that time, to be fair. Added a second and hasn't killed it yet (total 80 ah).

Hook sets are fishing reality.
the answer to that is different with everyone's fishing style, if you would normally need a 31 agm to handle your style of fishing then you would require 100ah
the 50s will out perform any 27/29 wet cell and hold their own up against a lot of 31 wet cells
sorry no straight yes no answer

Typically lithium costs “ABOUT” $10 an amp hour across the board with all brands give or take some. 50ah batteries are about $500 and 100ah are about $1,000. So if you want a 2 battery 24v 50ah setup you might be spending around 1k then add in the possibility of a charger upgrade which might be another few hundred on top of that. For a 3 battery 36v 100ah setup you will be around 3k. No one can tell you if a size battery will be big enough for you. Unless you fish 1-2 hours a day then I would say you will be 100% satisfied with 50ah batteries. I’ve read plenty of reports of guys killing 50ah setups in less than 8 hours. If you fish tournaments those situations alone should be enough to pass up the 50s and get 75-100ah. Especially when you say you are a power fisherman and keep the trolling motor above 70.

I got 100's for the reasons mentioned above and also because the 50's won't jump the motor if my cranking battery goes down.

i've never heard anyone say...man my batteries last too long.
I went with 3 - 50ah batteries and have yet to get them below 60% after tournament days. Only have about 3 - 8 hour days on them so far but very satisfied. With the rain we have had, the "current" places have been a little too blown out for me to fish. The price per battery was comparable to what I spent a few months ago on a X2 31 AGM for my cranking battery.
16 lbs a piece... Picked up a good bit of speed while on the TM and the hole shot improvements are very noticeable.
I was going to have to replace my old 29 Interstates this year, so I took that into the overall cost on my side.
I am really happy with my 2 50ah IONIC batteries. That bein said, I wish I would've bought the 100ah batts. The quick recharge time is a definite plus. If you can afford 3k for 3 100ah batteries buy em and dont think twice about it. Going g to lithium was the best upgrade I've ever done.

See which ones Ranger is going to use as standard equipment. They should be the most affordable.
If I pull the trigger it will be Ionic. Just can’t make up my mind to do 3 12v 50AH or 3 12V 100AH.
