Alright guys let’s talk some good cooking. Not the chain Texas Roadhouse, chili’s, Applebee’s, etc. Talking some good real cooking. What’s your favorite spots breakfast/lunch/dinner in the Guntersville/Birmingham areas?

Phillipians 4:13-For I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me
Guntersville- Top of the River. You won’t be disappointed. If you like greens and beans, you will be in hog heaven there. Mighty good catfish too.
In Birmingham
Saws soul kitchen in Avondale not the juke joint in Mountain brook. Get the pork and greens.
Dreamland bbq and you better get the banana pudding
Crawmamas in guntersville. Best seafood you will ever eat.
Am a birmingham native, and a big food guy.
Depending on what you are after...
BEST OVERALL : El Barrio
BEST BBQ : The Pit or Saws
BEST SEAFOOD : Automatic seafood (oysters are in season)
BEST STEAK : Perry's
BEST FINE DINING : Highlands bar and grill (or go to Chez fonfon)
BEST VALUE : Los Primos food truck (cash only)
BEST THAI : Blue pacific (personal favorite place near Birmingham)
BEST SUSHI : Bamboo on 2nd
BEST RAMEN : Shu Shop (draft sake so good)
BEST INDIAN : Silver Coin
BEST ITALIAN : Gianmarcos

Honorable mentions: Mile End Deli, Pizitz food hall (like 6 good places in here), Melt, Fancys on 5th, Rojo, Back Forty Brewing, Birmingham Breadworks, SOHO Social, Big Bad Breakfast, Diplomat Deli, Brennans Irish pub,Eugene's hot chicken, New York Pizza, Kome, Bottega, Bistro 218, Bettola.
Have fun.
This is a good list but let me recommend the following
BEST OVERALL : Olive Branch is my personal favorite. it's also listed as best mediterranean IMHO
BEST BBQ : Saws Juke Joint is first choice, Full Moon is second choice. (don't go to the hole in the wall called Saws Soul Kitchen) Don't bother with Dreamland, unless you go to Tuscaloosa
BEST SEAFOOD : Ocean's or Highlands, both are 5 Star restaurants. You can eat in the bar area if you don't have reservations.
BEST STEAK : Fleming's is first choice for steak. Go to Perry's and get the Pork Chop instead of steak.
BEST FINE DINING : Highlands bar and Grill (agreed)
BEST VALUE : I don't have a best value but I would say Buffalo Wild Wings on 3rd Ave S is decent and close to the BJCC
BEST THAI : Don't think I have had Thai in Birmingham and have lived here for 25 years
BEST SUSHI : Ginza on 280 (ping me and I'll meet you there) with Chuck's Fish honorable mention
BEST RAMEN : What the hell is this?
BEST INDIAN : Silver Coin
BEST ITALIAN : Joe's Italian in Pelham/Weatherly. Gianmarcos is really good but you won't get reservations this late in the game. You could go to the wine bar and eat though. Bellini's with HM.
BEST PIZZA : Tortugas (agreed)
BEST MEAT & THREE : Make yourself go to Niki's West. This is how M&3 should be done.
Best Mediterranean : Olive Branch in Cahaba Heights (really good prices too)
Best Chicken Fingers: Famous Fred's in Hoover but will give Hattie B's an honorable mention since it's downtown and not far from BJCC
Best Sandwich: New York Butcher Shop in Cahaba Heights. Almost 1lb of meat on it.
Best Breakfast : Chris Z's in Lakeview. Get the Big Nasty Hashbrowns. Closed on Sunday.

OvertimeAgain is spot on on his recommendations.
Original Pancake house is pretty good for breakfast.
GO TO Nikki's West if you don't go anywhere else.
Pretty spot on. I like Post Office Pies in Avondale for Pizza. Get the Swine Pie and the Garlic Cheese Bread.
Big Bad Breakfast deserves more than an honorable mention. Its outstanding. The creole Omelete or the biscuit crumble. be sure to try their house hot sauce and their tomato gravy.
That Pork Chop at Perry's deserves a mention also. Dang good.
One last one T-Bones. A hole in the wall place that does cheese steak. The cheese steak fries and cheese steak egg rolls are great along with the cheese steak of course.
