    2002 135 Mercury Optimax

i have a 2002 135 mercury optimax on a 22 ft. blazerbay w/ a 14 x 19 , 3 blade prop, it gets out of the water good but only has a top speed of 35 - 40 mph at 5500 rpms. is there anything i can do to pick up more top speed?

You simply need MORE HORSEPOWER. That boats gotta be rated for a 225 at minimum right?

You can up the HP to 150 but you will need to have the ECU reprogrammed AND replace the air flow restrictor with one for a 150. The 135s have a 2.0 gear case while the 150s have a 1.87. You can run either one. The 2.0 has more umph at lower RPMs and would want to keep it. It will not give you much but it will give you some.
