    Option one. Its new.

As for option 2, and not knowing the hours aside, you've know idea what kind of 10 years of life, the wear and tear, that boat and motor have had. Not worth the chance IMHO.
No one can be wrong that often so it has to be deliberate.

If I had to choose between those two I would go new......but for $42K you can get a 4-5 year old 20' boat with poles, electronics, and everything else and a 250. I know of '15 Legend V20 fully loaded in that price range. Good luck on your decision.

It would depend on how big of water you fish. Bigger water needs bigger boat.

So some more info... Biggest lake I would most likely fish is 56000 acres when its full. The rest of the time it is likely to be on river impoundments in the 10,000 acre range. It sounds so far like most people would sacrifice the size of boat and some options to go with the newer shorter boat..

So now lets throw in another option... a 2013 721 phoenix boat for $43,000?
I'm thinking most will still say to stick with the new shorter Ranger Z185.....

This. If you consistently fish big water I’d get a bigger boat. For me, I fish a lot of rivers and small water with the occasional trip to the Great Lakes or larger reservoirs. So for me, I’d go with the new Z185

That “no electronics” can add some serious $$$ to the new Ranger price. I might look for a gently used one or two year old 18’ or 19’ boat with good electronics.

Honestly, if you bump your limit a few thousand you can buy my 2017 phoenix 721 with an ultrex, 12” garmins and warranty

    Keep looking !!!
Find the nicest boat you can for the best possible price.
Don’t commit financial suicide and over spend or overextend yourself.
Plenty of great boats out there for way less money !

I wouldn't go less than a 20 foot boat for the waters in your area that you will likely fish. Keep looking.
