    24v or 36v?

So buddy is buying ranger vs1882 and debating on trolling motor. Issue is battery space and boat is configured for 24v. He would like to go with a 36v but then he can only do group 24s. Plus breaker and charger upgrades, installation etc. Terrova 60" i-pilot link

Plans to fish big water at times and use tm to troll. Should he...

Stick with a 24v and put the biggest batteries in that fit thinking maybe 31s

Upgrade to 36v and put in group 24s.

Duracell batteries from Sam's or batteries plus... AGM?

I have had good success with duracells, thanks in advance for any opinions!

Well, lithium batteries are an option, but not a cheap option. You can get three 50ah or 60ah batteries in there with room to spare. Check out the size and weight.

Worth the discussion, didn't realize they are that much smaller. Cost might eliminate lithium.

    Thanks for the reply Ed

my opinion, for what it's worth, on that size boat stay with the 24V motor and go with a 29 or 31 series lead acid battery (same size battery, just different post configuration) for the trolling motor.

In the end with 24 volts I think you will have to have a minimum of 125 AH batteries. still might not be enough depending on demand
I would add that I used a 19 ft lund fisherman for salmon fishing with a 24 volt Uterra and with 2 95ah batteries I could run it 8 hours at 3-4 setting without killing the batteries
If this is a new boat investment I would bite the bullet and go for 36 volt and 75 plus AH Lithium's batteries as they more compact
It would be a heart breaker to not get it right the first time and triple your final cost
