Bigger Motor on Older PII Got Me Thinking

I have a 96 PII and have always considered the question of what to do if my 98 EFI 200 blows. Looking at the weight of new 4 strokes seems like I would be adding over 100lbs of motor if I ever upgraded. Maybe Bass Cat can chime in here but would my transom be able to support a 200 SHO or new Mercury 4 Stroke?

Good question. I'll be following this I have a 93 and was wondering the same.

Makes me nervous. If for some reason Bass Cat says it will compromise the transom and all manufacturers are transitioning to the heavier four strokes, us with older cats are in trouble. Definitely would kill the resale value.

Should be fine if they are in good shape. Quit overthinking it!
