    Suggestions?

I bought a new Ram with the 5'7" bed and would like to stay where I fish sometimes. I'm 6'5". A tent my only option? Thanks

There are some truck campers that will go into the short beds on 1/2 tons. Not sure what your cargo capacity is on that truck, but here is one. https://www.lancecamper.com/truck-campers/650/

I have checked out a few of the truck campers and while they are nice they are very cramped. At 6'5" myself I prefer my tent as i can stand up in it and it has enough room for the wife and I and all of her stuff. I got a 10 man tent from Sam's Club and it has worked great so far.

Tent makes the most sense. You could make 3 A frames for bed & tailgate and make your own truck tent.. there are truck tents that extend 5 feet past the bumper to the ground. Get a patio chaise cushion for padding. Check out youtube for ideas. A good 4 man eureka or ? tent for $200 is best bet.. 4 man doesn't take any more room than a 2 man when packed..don't cheap out on tent..rain, wind, zippers won't last 4 trips with a cheapy...

Some at this link fits your bed. As you mention above, check your cargo capicity and axle ratings first and then go from there. I have the Northstar Laredo SC and absolutely love it!! Good luck with your search and decision!

Big Guy, Understand and good luck! They make a hard side (Liberty) that would fit your Ram, but the interior height is only 6'4", the same as the Laredo. The reason I mentioned the pop-up for you is that the inside height on them are 6'7". Even at 6'2" I still hit my head on the A/C sometimes, but worth it.

Tom, They are cool.....and the customer service at Northstar is second to none. All they do are truck campers and none with slides. They've been doing it since 1955. If you're in the market for a truck camper, check them out.

To get a visual, just took out my new Northstar 850SC with new 2020 Ford F-350. But it's only 6'4". For a short bed the 650 would work.
