    Does Lowrance Make

just a 2d transducer for the Ghost instead of the HDI? I know the HDI has 2d but I don't want the structure that comes with HDI.

Pretty sure you can use the 2d part only, you don’t have to view the DI.

yah. It's just causing complications trying to run down scan using the 2 in 1 as the source from the 12 live bow unit instead of the HDI

Can you elaborate a bit about the problems? I like to learn as much as possible about these units. Are you having trouble selecting the 2 in 1 as the source while the HDI is connected? Your Ghost should be connected to Channel 2. How do you have a 2 in 1 connected as well? I could not get the Ghost sonar to work when connected to Channel 1. Your mileage may vary. You are aware that Channel 1 cannot do side imaging from an AI transducer? Here is the description of what each channel can do direct from your manual:

    Sonar CH1 - blue 9-pin connector
    Supports:
    • Sonar / CHIRP Sonar
    • DownScan
    • Active Imaging 3D transducer
    • LiveSight Down/Forward transducer
Note: A 7-pin transducer cable can be connected to a 9-pin
port using a 7-pin to 9-pin adaptor cable. However, if the
transducer has a paddle wheel speed sensor, the water-speed
data will not be displayed on the unit.
Note: Channel 1 can do SideScan via an Active Imaging 3D
transducer. It cannot do SideScan from an Active Imaging,
Active Imaging 3-in-1, TotalSCan, StructureScan or
    StructureScan HD transducer.
    Sonar CH2 - black 9-pin connector
    Supports:
    • Sonar / CHIRP Sonar
    • DownScan
    • SideScan
    • Active Imaging/Active imaging 3-in-1/TotalScan/StructureScan
Note: A 7-pin transducer cable can be connected to a 9-pin
port using a 7-pin to 9-pin adaptor cable. However, if the
transducer has a paddle wheel speed sensor, the water-speed
data will not be displayed on the unit.

So I have the HDI in channel two of the bow. In the console I have the 2 in1 in channel two and a pdt-wbl in channel 1.

When I am on the bow unit and split the screen to sonar/down/side, it won't let me choose the 2 in 1 as the source for down and side, only shows the in hull and the HDI. When I tap on sonar, I can choose HDI, In hull, or 2 in 1.

What's odd, from the back unit, when I try to choose the HDI for sonar and use the 2 in1 for side/down, the side/down screen freezes but the sonar works fine.

I do have network sonar on and multi source.

Turn Network sonar off but leave Multisource on. Doubt that will help you but you don't really need it as long as Multisource is selected. Network sonar gets you in trouble when you pull the trolling motor out of the water. The front unit will automatically switch to the another source since it's detects the selected one is out of the water.

Why can the Ghost not be connected to channel 1?

I want to connect my ghost to channel 1 and my side/down/sonar for the transom to channel 2. Will this not work?

Turn network off on both units?

You just have to do it on one. It will take on both units.

I could not get my sonar or Downscan to work when connected to Channel 1. There were intermittent boxes moving across the top and downscan had no detail. Just a line for the bottom. Switched it to Channel 2 and it works perfectly. YMMV.
