Adding an HDS5X for the bow questions

Currently I have a Gen1 HDS7 w/ LSS-1, LGC4000, NMEA 2000. I'm adding a HDS5X to the bow to utilize my Ultrex US2 xducer. My question is: should I leave the HDS5X out of the NMEA network? I really only use the LSS-1 while idling from the console and will probably just use the HDS5X as a front graph while fishing. (Or am I missing an advantage of including it in the network.) I've read the X models don't have the chart plotter ability. Thanks for any advice! Scott

I would connect it to NMEA2000, simply to update the software in it from your other HDS. Apart from that, I don`t see much reason for NMEA2000 to the 5x with your current setup.
Yes, x-models do not have chartplotter-capability, even when networked to another HDS with chartplotter.
