Yea. One thing I've learned is jan/Feb is crankbait time on rayburn. It's the same thing every year. That's as far as I've got with it though lol.

Technically I think he said he can get his C20 to 20’ with 20lb. Still tough and I’m still not so sure he actually can. And if you watch him, I’m not convinced that he’s convinced either. Probably can get it to the brush pile though.

Depends on how tall the brush pile is

That’s impressive if he can...those guys obviously have boat control and positioning down pat...that crank ain’t down there very long.

You ever think he might be crankin with braid? It’s possible.

You got me, but I know castledine does the same thing. I have my thoughts on it but I dont know if I'm right. You could tell they Shook didnt want to give all that away. I think they are hitting targets, stumps, brush piles, and some digging a big crank on shallower points and stuff. But like I said, i know the crank is the deal but that's as far as I've got with it. But i dont use 20lb, i use 12. That could make a difference in ripping the bait thru brush and stuff triggering a bite

I did an article a few years back on deep cranking and I was surprised at how prevalent using braided line was for deep cranks and by somne guys that have fished and done well on all levels.

About 43 seconds into the video it shows the cranks on rods and they have flourocarbon on them. Unless Ken Smith is rocking a pair of $390 Power Tackle cranking rods as well.

They might have been, but there is a lot of really good Texas tournament guys that deep crank with braid. Not very common at all in the rest of the country, but I’ve sure heard about my fair share of it from Texas boys.

Is long lining allowed in this trail?
