    60 amp Breaker Tripping

Installed a new 36v Ultrex last year, installed a new 60 amp breaker, and now anything above 80% for very long at all and the breaker trips. I used a cheap Amazon breaker. Could the cheap breaker be the cause? Or does anyone have any other suggestions? TIA.

    Likely your cheap breaker.

Bad connection somewhere possibly. What plug are you using?

6 gauge wire and tight connections are in place then I would try a new Minn Kota 60 amp breaker. You possibly could borrow one from a buddy for a few minutes and try if you wish to be sure!

You might check for water in your motor. There is a thread with the instructions. Not hard to check as I remember. Bob

Water in the motor will not trip a breaker on a variable speed motor. I with John. cheap breaker.

If all connections are good and secure, it will lead back to the cheap breaker

Thanks again everyone. It's an 03 Skeeter ZX225, and it sure looks like 6 gauge they've got coming from the front. I've used 4 gauge for the jumpers etc., so it must be the cheap breaker.
I'll check connections at the plug up front first, then order a new breaker. Is the Minnkota breaker what everyone is using?

Not many use the MK breaker because it does not function as a cut off switch. The Blue Sea does both protection and switching (MK digital trollers should be disconnected while charging).

    $100!?!? I'll take my chances....
I use a plug up front, not hard wired, so I just unplug the TM after I load up and before charging.

A poor connection will not increase current flow, not likey to be the cause unless it is a poor connection on the breaker connection that could cause heat migration in to the breaker, Wire to small will cause issues of low current flow as well but not cause the breaker to open, Low voltage at source will cause increased current flow on a constant voltage DC motor but not a pulse width controlled. A bussman187 series breaker is your best bet which is the one blue sea sells about 45 to 50 bucks on amazon, I use one of these at the bow in 60 amp for convenience of disconnecting the trolling motor for charging and 2 inexpensive 40 amp auto resets wired in parallels at the battery to protect the wiring to the front

Have you actually measured your current draw?
