2004 520vx just repowered with 2013 Evinrude 225 go. Speed questions

Really wishing I could get more speed. Maybe it's not possible but I'll tell you my set up and current results. I'm 245 lbs. With a 200# partner ,an ultrex, 4 agm batteries, 2-12’ talons, tournament load both tanks 3/4 full. I get 62 max with a fury 3 25p(just balanced ). I also just got a fury 4 24p and rides nicer but at 58. The rpm on the fury 3 will go a touch above 6000. I've been up and down on my bobs.

    Thoughts?

A tempest will do a lot better on the VX hulls.

    +1

My 04 521 with an 04 Erude 225 ho will run 68 all day long loaded with livewell full. Will run 70 to 71 as fuel leaves the tanks. Running a 25 tempest plus. I also run a worked raker 26. Manual plate set to 3.25 for tempest.

What set back plate do you have? You might be too far back with that Rude. Vx hulls run best with a 6-8” set back. If your Rude is the newer style.it already has 4” built in. I agree,a good Tempest+ 25 should get what you are looking.

My 2003 519 was about 8 mph faster with the Tempest 23 Vs Fury 23 with close to the same RPM.

Found a tempest to try.. It really preformed like everyone said. I ran 68 with it yesterday. I also had to lower my motor on my jackplate 2 holes to get low enough to really perform. I'm closer to 5.5” ptp. And it was still needing to lower. Pressure is high and it was really lifting the hull. I'm guessing I will get at least 1 more mph.
I've got 2 furys for sale now.

I was thinking the same thing. Isn’t it the difference between a level bottom of the hall and center of the Prop?

When I was at 3.25 the boat wouldn’t go over 60. That’s when I pushed it down and ran out of room on my jack plate but it was running at 68 and pressure was good

Yep. I didn't play with the motor height though. That could have made the difference.
