    Which Hummingbird?

I have always had Lowrance. So I know little about the different Hummingbird units. I purchased an Ultrex trolling motor and want to get the maximum benefit. I am not wanting to spend thousands as I am just a weekend warrior. Mostly just fish our local club. I currently have a Lowrance 7 chirp at the bow. I was thinking of replacing it with the Helix 7 chirp. Would this unit have everything necessary to run the routes and weigh point jog or is there a better hummingbird unit in the same price range.

The Helix 7 would need to be the N version if you want to have the link version of the trolling motor ..... N=networking.

Are you considering a SI or just the 2D model? It's good to have the entire model number of the unit you are considering.

To have the most trolling motor-to-unit benefit, the Ultrex has to be the iPilot LINK model. If you have at least that, a Helix 7 would have to the a discontinued G2N or current G2N. N means Network, that is what LINK is=Ethernet.
There are G2 and G3 models but they don't talk to each other or any device.

Helix 7 CHIRP is just a 2D-only model with 83/200 kHz for the G2/G2N and is 2D-only HW CHIRP in the G3/G3N model.

The motor itself can do Spotlock waypoints and iTracks with no sonar unit communication if you don't have the LINK version.

The ultrex has the built in tranducer that I believe is DI only. So with the 2d, does that give you the same HD screen I have with the Lowrance chirp. I just read the second post and yes the ultrex is the ipilot link version.

No such thing as a DI-only Minnkota transducer or Humminbird transducer. DI means Down Imaging.
    The US2 is a 2D-only transducer
The MDI is 2D and DI
The MSI is 2D, DI, and SI

Ok I guess I need to figure out exactly what I have. I was thinking that I had the
DI tranducer. Stinks to be so illiterate about this stuff.

Just go to the Minnkota website, select the Ultrex and do the features settings for transducers. You will see what each one looks like.
