What oil for 1999 Mercury 125

Hi, I have a new to me boat with a 1999 Mercury 125 hp, Serial Number 0G866781 I would like to know what oil to use and also what gear oil. Also, I feel stupid asking...is this motor a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke? Thanks for any help.

I have the 98 model of that engine, it's a two stroke, 4 cylinder carburated engine. On top of the cowling is a lid to access the oil reservoir, under that you will see another cap that has a dipstick attached to it, I find it easier to just remove the cowl to fill the reservoir. Any good TCW3 oil will be fine, I run Pennzoil, and for the lower unit lube I use Mercury High Performance gear lube.

If you want to run Mercury’s oil, Mercury (or Quicksilver as it is the same) Premium Plus is best. If you do not, then Pennzoil XLF is good one too.
