    2000 20ss extreme prop help

Hi I have a 26 pitch raker prop now and I'm getting about 64 GPS speed with about 5600 RPM. Is there a better prop out there I should be using to gain more speed? It's on a 225 horse Johnson motor

I have a feeling something is wrong with your motor, or maybe something else but you should be doing much better than that.
    Is the motor an HO?
    Have you checked compression?
Are the carbs opening all the way?
Have you owned the boat since new? If not is that the prop that came with the motor? If yes send it to Mark Croxton and have it trued up.
What is your prop to pad?
I'm sure others will have plenty more questions for you. We will help you get it figured out but we need your help with answers.

Yes the motor is an ho. I had the carbs redone with carb kits. Compression I just checked and all 6 cylinders are 100 to 106. I have not owned it since new. I've have it for about 10 years. It came with a 4 blade prop. I put 26p raker 3 blade. I think my prop to pad is 3 3/4 and I'll have to check on carbs opening up all the way

How did it perform before the carb rebuild? Was it better after the rebuild? Did the person that rebuilt them transfer the high speed jets from old to new bowls?
How did it perform with the 4 blade which I suspect was a Renegade Bass, what Pitch and what RPM with it?
    Compression seems sound.

It didn't seem to change much. He said some spring wasn't hooked up before the rebuild and he hooked it up and said it should be a lot better. I didn't see much change. The guy is a mechanic at local skeeter dealer. Not sure what the other prop brand. I assume he did everything correct

Seems like if I raise the motor up with the jackplate the speed gets worse. Water pressure is good

sure the prop is good? might be tired and need marks magic touch? 3.5-3.75 should be a good spot to be on ptp.

The prop is getting pretty thin and sharp so I assume it's getting wore out? I'm not sure about it tho

See if you can get your hands on a lower pitch prop to try. If your RPM’s go up when you change to a lower pitch prop then it’s probably not a motor issue. If you change it and they do not go up then you either have a motor problem or your throttle body isn’t opening all the way. If you drop from a 26 to a 25 you should see 200-400 rpm’s more.

I'll check the throttle body. I have a lower pitch 4 blade I believe. The 4 blade is a renegade 13 1/2. 23 pitch I think it said.
