Just ordered one and cant decide whether to mount on the jack plate or the bottom of transom for a better reading on plane . Dont really want to drill into transom.

Look at the Sternmate or Sternsaver. You glue those to the hull and then screw ducer to it. You also have choice of a shoot thru ducer and image ducer if you want to go that route.

Ideally you want an in hull ducer and one mounted on the jack plate.

GT8 & GT15 are the shoot thrus.....i don thunk tou can run both GT54 and one of the shoot thrus at the same time.

I don have a jackplate and had to use on my ranger under the built in setback works great at slow speeds but no readings at high speed i really need the y cable and through gull to go with itOriginally Posted by fishin couillon
i'm not sure you are getting the message. The Y cable only works with GT30 and GT34 transducers. It does not work with GT50, GT51, GT52, or GT54 transducers.
