    Interstate 31MHD battery ?

Was looking at purchasing new starting and trolling motor batteries. Is the Interstate 31MHD a good battery for both applications? I have a 24 volt trolling motor. On the starting battery is a Garmin live scope with a 106sv, 2 hummingbird helix 10s and pumps for live well. Thank you in advance for you help.

Definitely not a good choice for TM batteries. It’s not a deep-cycle.

    What outboard do you have?

Keep in mind that Interstate doesn’t make batteries, and usually their batteries are available from other sources significantly cheaper. You can buy this very same battery at Autozone for $140 or at a NAPA store for just a couple dollars more.

Suggest you step down to the Merc 3 Liter forum below and find the "Batteries that meet the requirements......" FAQ. Most likely you'll be happiest with a dual purpose, group 31 AGM. FWIW, I am using the group 31 X2 from Batteries Plus. I also like the slightly less expensive Duracell group 31 AGM's from there for trolling motor app's. Best of luck whichever way you go.

Duralast 29 Marine from Autozone or the Duracell 31 AGM from Sam’s.

Do you have to have a different type of charger for the AGM batteries vs a wet cell?

It depends on the particular AGM. Chargers from the last 10 years or so are generally compatible with most AGMs, but some high end batteries are particular about charging.

Not an ideal charger for AGM. It would be a Dual Pro charger, but, before they added the Delta Volt technology (somewhere around 2007-2008). Delta Volt technology is more AGM compatible. I would not trust yours to a high end AGM like Northstar or Odyssey. In fact, Odyssey only approves the DP chargers with Delta Volt for their batteries.

What batteries would you recommend that were non AGM for the cranking battery and trolling motor?
