Ultrex steering cable outside cover cracked

The steering cable cover that goes from the head unit to the peddle has a big crack on it. I just wrapped duct tape around it for now. Will this possibly cause interference with my transducer cable running along it? Can the cover be replaced or repaired? Can this cause problems with the trolling motor?

No it will probably not cause interference. Duck tape is good but grey and ugly. You could use electrician black tape. Even better you cans get a sheat for computer wires that you can wrap around the steering cable and the transducer cable. This sheat is held in place by velcro and is not expensive.

It’s a common problem with the cable covers. They’re also really stiff so several people have cut it off and replaced it with a neoprene cover.
You can buy one from TH Marine called Troll Jacket or you can get one off eBay that’s used to organize computer cables.
The cracked cover shouldn’t have anything to do with interference unless a cable inside of it was damaged.

Just joking. Been reading all the speculative posts (at this time anyway) about MK's new brushless motors. Should have kept my fingers off the keyboard...LOL

I just noticed that my cable cover is cracked too. Do you guy’s put the new neoprene cover over the old plastic one or do you remove the old one?

I removed mine. I was always having trouble getting my cable to stay where I wanted it with the stiff cover. It’s much more manageable with the neoprene sleeve.

Did you cut it out and leave a short portion on each end to attach the new cover to?
