    Hours on a 4 stroke

Brother is looking at a 2015 Tracker with Mercury s/n 1B874074 115 hp motor. Owner guesstimates 850 hours, which seems like a lot, though most was while trolling.

I suggested he get checked out and download history at a dealer, like total hours, etc if possible.

Thoughts on hours? Any common issues with this motor?

    Thanks, Mike

I wouldn't really be scared of "hours" on this engine. The Walleye Series (L4NA) was essentially a 4-cylinder VERADO powerhead, that was Naturally Aspirated. Nearly bullet-proof, and have seen many of them in the Supercharged Version with thousands (4K, 5K, 6K+) hours on them, still running strong.

Get that one checked out to determine it's current condition- Printouts, careful inspection, Compression and Leakdown Tests, etc.
