Best Dock Skipping Rod 6'6" or shorter. H with Fast tip, do they make H that short

Need a shorter rod, prefer H or stiff MH with fast tip.

Closest thing I can think of is a 6-6 Heavy/Fast in the Dobyns Fury casting rod. They also make a 6-8 HF in Sierra and Champ XP.

What kind of budget do you have? I know of some great options if higher end JDM rods are an option. PM me if you prefer...

The only rod I can think of that would be close would be an 804C in the Loomis NRX, GLX or IMX-Pro series. I have an NRX 804C and I don't really think of it as a skipping rod but I give my NRX 803C lots of air time in Feb-Apr to skip flukes into the flooded bushes at Toledo Bend.

I acutally might have the exact rod you want. It's an old 6'6" MH GL3 that I broke the tip off and now it's a 6'3" MHH. I still use that rod every once in a while for short distance spinnerbait and chatterbait casting.

Thanks everyone. I went with the Dobyns 6'6" heavy with Fast tip. Hopefully it will be what i need. If not, i will try some of these others.

Hey, I want a commission for suggesting that rod - and so I can then give the proceeds to cidgrad to make me a custom ALX rod! Lol..

If that’s not what you’re looking for, check into a St Croix Avid 6’6” MH fast. It’s a stout rod with a little tip that sounds like it’d be perfect for what you’re using it for.

Get Alex to build you a custom. ALX has built me some nice rods and I highly recommend the Skipper

Having one built is a great idea. Could even have the builder put a pistol grip on it if you want!

Love my loomis nrx 804c, their 4 power is rated a heavy, but it's more like a med/heavy+ compared to other makers. The length combined with the light weight is heavenly, and accurate, my skipping skills are another story though lol
