    ..:: Battery Advice for Livescope ::..

    I am wanting to run my Garmin 102sv Echomap ultra and livescope black box to its own battery source. What size battery do you guys recommend to get a full 10-12 hour day out of it?

    Was thinking a 12v 35ah deep cycle. Want to stay as light as possible. Opinions?

    35a/h = 1 amp for 35 hours

    LS is 4 amps per hour

    4X10 = 40 a/h

    4X12 = 48a/h

    35a/h / 4amps=8.75hrs

    70/2=35 at 50% discharge

    Why not just get a Group 31 X2 for your starting battery and not worry about it?

    +1... why make it complicated...just get a single battery that will run everything and recharge from the big motor too.

    and best to figure more like 4.5 - 4.75 average amps on LiveScope as well...

    I just swapped mine to a group 31 in my RT188 due to live scope. You have to cut the side of the tray out. It will fit. There was a guy on here that fit 3 31’s in his.

    I have a Triton 18TX that is the same as a RT188. I’m running 2 group 27 batteries for my trolling motor and a Duracell group 31 AGM in my boat. You just have to cut the ends out of the plastic tray for the starting battery and the 31 will fit fine.

    I was concerned about the group 31 fitting until several guys on the Tin Boat forum said they were doing it too.

    Have you guys run livescope 10 hours on water with two other units(12 and 7 HDS lowrance) and live well recirc running all day? Another reason I want it on its on source is for peace of mind in the scenario I just described. I would prefer to keep it to 3 batteries but don’t like getting stranded.

    I just got finished installing a livescope system in my RT188 yesterday so I do not know how it's going to work but I went with a 30Ah (6lbs.) lithium battery and a 2 amp lithium charger. Used 10ga wire for everything and wired it all to a dedicated switch. Am running a Helix 10 mega G3N on same power. Put everything in front starboard compartment including black box. Have a Helix and a 1198 at the console along with everything else off of starting battery. From all my research I don't expect to have any problems.

    I’m running 2-9’s, a 12, the live scope box and the Garmin 9 (4 units total plus the box) for probably 8 hrs and no problem since I put the 31 in. My battery died once after 6 hours but it was a 27 And 4 years old. And that’s crappie fishing so not a lot of running around. A lot of sitting on one spot for a while. I have the black box on a switch and if I’m just riding looking, graphing I’ll turn the box off.

    I carry a strong portable jump starter on board. weighs 3 pounds and store in a compartment out of the way. Get a strong one, the cheaper ones won't start most outboards. Mine says it will start a V12 gas and a big diesel, forgot how big.

    What he said. I carry a little little jump starter just in case. It’s hardly bigger than a pack of cigarettes but it jumped me off when my 27 did die. I keep jumper cables on hand also.

    Yes. I'm also running an AGM Group 31. I've got (2) 93SV's, (1) 102SV, Live Scope, NMEA network, GMS10, Live well pumps and most of the time my stereo. I do daylight to dark trips all the time...no issues, have never seen less than 11.6v.

    I am about to pull the trigger and get a 1022 and the livescope system. I am on a budget, in a 12 year old Skeeter. I understand that the Garmin livescope system pulls about 4.7 amps per hour, but by the time I buy the system, have a friend install it, the thought of another $200-600 bucks for a lithium battery is out. If I can cram another deep cycle battery in the bilge, 12 volt and at least 50ah, will that work? 6-7 hours fishing is about all I do.

    12V and at least 50AH will get you 10hours+
    according to garmin, typcal current draw for blackbox is 21WH and GPSMap1022 is 23WH

    600WH will be plenty for 10 hours.
