    Side scan purchase help

Hey guys I'm looking for some advice on purchasing a side scan unit. I already have a down image unit on the console so a combo unit isn't necessarily a must. I've always had lowrance electronics but I am very open to a different brand. I don't want to spend a lot of money so I understand that my options will be limited. Any advice I can get would be appreciated.
    Thanks guys

What is not a lot of money? $500? $1000?

    Interested in used units?

If $1000 is in your wheel house Helix 10 G2N MEGA SI units are on sale right now for $1000 at cabelas/basspro. Next to the newer ($$) Mega+ imaging, these will arguably give you the best side image on the market.
Any Humminbird SI unit will also be a DI unit.
If you're trying to keep it under $500 and don't mind used, you can probably find some good 1199's that people are selling to upgrade.

If having a new unit is important, https://humminbird.johnsonoutdoors.c...mega-si-gps-g3 would be my go to.

If used is acceptable I would consider looking for an older 1198 or 1199. They wont have mega imaging, but the larger screen will be a benefit.

Cabelas/Bass Pro has Lowrance Elite Ti9 for $600 right now plus free installation. May be an option. It comes with the transducer

I don't think that the transducer is included?

In my opinion if I didn't want spend a lot $ I'd look for a good used HB 1199 OR 1198 with side scan, DI, etc.

It comes with the transducer, and the reviews on BPS website are very good for this unit! It seems like it would be a perfect fit for what OP is looking for.

Do not rule out Garmin. The SV plus units are wonderful graphs. I had two of these on my last boat. No complaints.
If I heard correctly, the plus units are being marked down, to make room for the UHD units .
If mapping isn't a concern, and no touch screen is sufficient, look at the striker series. Same screen resolution and transducer, as the SV plus series.

Cabelas/Bass pro also has a hook2 7x triple scan for $300 on clearance from $500. It has 2D, down scan, and side scan capabilities but only has GPS plotter so no contours and navionics won’t work but you can save waypoints. For $300 it’s the same price as a 5” unit with just sonar and no plotting

Just get a echomap plus 93sv... can be had for about $600 now... you get maps, down and side imaging as well as touch screen. Easy.

I just got this. Very nice. It has the total scan transducer. If you have a bass pro card you get 3x the points and a 50 dollar gift card.
