    Are 50 AH lithiums enough....

That's the $600 question.... I have to say they are only 14lbs each and on paper seem like a dream ! Was just at the toronto boat show and a local dealer selling ionic lithiums. He was saying the 2 12v 50ah will work just as good as the group 31's I have now...

    thoughs?

oh and a new ranger z521 is $122,000 cnd

If your group 31's are 100 Ah's that is probably accurate. What motor on that 521?

They will work 99% of the time, and do a very, very good job. I ran 2 50ah ionic lithiums for about six months. 80lb MotorGuide digital Tour. The only time they failed was during a tournament on Lake Champlain NY. Wind out of the NW at a steady 15-20mph gusting 25-30mph. We were fishing a point facing directly into the NW. After about 6 hours of standing on trolling motor @ 80-95% to just hold into the wind the Lithiums failed. Pretty much a perfect storm for those 50ah. I changed out to 100ah batteries.

If you are not the hard core tournament guy, the 50ah will do all, and more than you need. I have fished many blue bird, light wind, and some steady light wind tournaments with the 50ahs. Batteries were top notch, never using more than 50% of the battery capacity. If you have to fish 8+ hours in 20mph wind, get the 100ah.

    Just my experience.

I was there today too, saw that boat and all the others. The kid did me proud though, caught trout after trout at the kids pond, although we were one of the first to fish it so they hadn’t got too badly hammered yet
I’m also pretty interested in the lithium’s, they’d make my rig run quite a bit lighter too.

5, I bought my batteries from DREWTICK a BBC sponsor...Both times, with a credit trade-in on the two 50s. There are two 100ah batteries. They are the same except the more expensive $845 vs $830 battery is in a larger case. I opted for the 100ah 27 series because it will fit in an Attwood battery case.

SF, I replaced four 31gp batteries with three ionic lithums. Pulled 276lbs out and replaced with 84lbs of lithium, two 100ah, one 125ah. Boat jumps up out of the hole, but can't say it runs any faster.

I currently have 2 group 31 everstarts from Walmart. They have never let me down but are like 70lbs each. I'm just not sure the 50ah will perform like the everstarts will... I'd think a 60 or 65 will work better but there's a big price jump. I may have to wait a few more years till the prices come down a bit.

It all depends on your style of fishing. Most people they are enough. I personally went bigger, but that's just me.

Well when I first purchased them I had a XP’s on board 3 bank 5amp charger. It was suggested that I get a reprogrammed dual pro with them. So I did that also. Batteries came and I installed them with my original charger. All worked perfectly. The dual pro showed up 3 wks later and I changed the charger out. Both chargers brought them up to the same level of charge as per the Bluetooth app. 99% at 53 ah. I think that I would have been fine with the original charger but I have piece of mind knowing I have the correct set up.

    Another question, is a 24v 100ah the same as 2 12v 50ah? Or the same as 2 12v 100 ah?

theres another local solar power shop that's has 12v 50/100ah hour batteries but saying they can't be hooked up for a 24v set up. If a 24v set up is required. Thoughts?

I have three 80 amp lithiums that have not run down with three 100 amp AGM's (Odyssey) did run down. So I know 80 is enough. I would question 50 amp. When lithiums do go down, it's almost instantaneous. You have very little warning.

There are many lithium batteries not capable of being hooked in series. Has to do with their construction. The only drawback to the 24 volt battery is you will need a 24 volt charger to go with it? Bob

Im actually ok with that. I'm thinking, replace two 12v 31 everstarts with one 24v 100ah lithium get rig of the large 3 bank charger and use a single bank for the agm cranker and external 24v charger for the lithium.... those group 31's are like 65lbs each and that larger probably 15lbs. One 24v lithium is like 30lbs and I'm pretty sure the 100 ah will do me just fine.

that’s because with the odyssey your 100Ah are probably really the useable capacity of 65ah. So your 80ah lithium’s have about 20-25% more life than agm.
